COMMUNITY PREP

In December of 2010, the NACDS Foundation announced the availability of $1.5 million in educational grants to expand the capacity of Community Pharmacy Residencies for recent pharmacy school graduates. The Project seeks to provide funding to create 30 new community pharmacy residencies with grants to non-profit and public academic institutions totaling $50,000 each. To date, grants have been awarded to three programs that launched in July 2011 and twelve programs that anticipate having a resident start in July 2012. The academic institutions to receive funding are:

  • Ferris State University
  • Midwestern University (Glendale)
  • The Ohio state University
  • Purdue University
  • St. Louis College of Pharmacy
  • SUNY Buffalo
  • University of Charleston
  • University of Kansas
  • University of Kentucky
  • University of Missouri-Kansas City
  • University of North Carolina
  • University of Puerto Rico
  • University of Southern California

The application process for the fifteen remaining awards is available starting February 1, 2012. Academic institutions applying for the final wave of funding will be expected to have their first resident by July of 2013.
